| Objective | To monitor the movements of fish between the Murray River and anabranch systems in response to flows and the operation of floodplain structures. The study specifically aims to add to our understanding of migration cues and habitat use by native and exotic fish species under a range of managed and natural flow events. This progress report provides an update of the third year of the program. This includes reporting of the number of tagged fish and fish detections in the system as well as a discussion of the impact of the newly constructed regulator and fishway on fish movement. Furthermore, we investigate the impact on fish movement of the flood and hypoxic blackwater event that occurred within the study area during November / December 2016. |
